Service Data: Case Study 2

Ethnic Health Forum (EHF)

Website: http://www.ethnichealth.org.uk/

What was the issue?

To start with the Ethnic Health Forum (EHF) never collected any information about clients visiting them for a welfare rights service. This was the problem.

What data did you start to collect?

We started recording the name of the client, postcode/ ethnicity/ to start with. Then adding what was the reason the client came?

We started monitoring this data.

It took us a year of doing this without any funding at all. Then we started showing all relevant info to potential funders.

How did you use the data you collected?

We met with Community Fund Officers and presented this data.

We made a case that we require funding to continue this service.

Conclusion

Our point being made is this: how as a small organisation we managed to convince funders with statistics and rich data that we need support and we got it!!

Three years of Community Fund Project funding was secured.

We built on this learning the importance of collecting info and data about clients and today we have five projects from various funders.
